I already had the correct partition (FAT 32) mounted under /boot/efi as per the above commands.
#ARCH LINUX MACBOOK WIFI B43 INSTALL#
I followed the instructions laid out in here to install GRUB. Closed by Tom Gundersen (tomegun) Wednesday.

I downloaded the ISO from here and ended up with the following ~ # ip linkġ: lo mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT group default Since the MacAir doesn’t have a CD-Drive, we can use a USB disk to perform the install.

Wifi worked fine on this MacBook both in Mac OSX Snow Leopard and in Windows 10.
#ARCH LINUX MACBOOK WIFI B43 DRIVER#
It is shown in the alternative driver section as using the Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver source from bcmwl-kernel-source(proprietary). Selecting the driver in Driver Manager was a bust.

If you cannot get any result by scanning wireless network after boot, unload modules b43 and ssb and load them again: rmmod ssb rmmod b43 modprobe b43. The only thing I have not been able to get WiFi to work on one of them. Plug a USB network adapter (wireless or ethernet adapter to plug into a USB port) and your Arch installation media into the USB hub. I managed to revive two them, and they now are functional Linux machines. Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes I am having a problem where I need to enable the wifi kernel module every time I boot my computer, using sudo modprobe b43.

Manjaro seemed to have used the b34 driver.

I completed the install but it took forever to apply the updates so I investigated the network speed and found it was 5Mb/s instead of 200Mb/s that I see out of that wifi 5-g channel normally. Inxi -N returns Network: Card: Broadcom Device 43ba driver: wlĬapabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list I tried installing the latest Manjaro Plasma on an old MacBook Pro and was surprised that it found and understood my wifi card which has a Broadcom 4331 chip. I am sure this is a driver issue that is beyond my current knowledge level. Any help would be much appreciated.Ī few outputs that show it recognises the hardware. I have very little experience with Linux, last time I used it was about 6 years ago. My question is, what else can I try, are there any other suggestions? I needed rEFInd After booting from arch ISO image (from CD) Partition disk etc. I uninstalled the propriety driver and managed to install b43-fwcutter and followed the guide to installing drivers this way via the ubuntu forums, again with no success. not quite complete but something to go on. When I installed the proprietry drivers it installed fine but I still can't see any wireless networks, or a network adapter. I installed Mint Linux on my macbook last night.
